Why we do what we do

Founder of Knot Lucky, Captain Jimmy Armel, served in the United States Army from 2005-2016. After getting out of the Army, Jimmy struggled to pull his life together, even with an amazing support system. After obtaining sobriety, he had to get treatment for PTSD, run a business, rehabilitate his credit and learn how to live as a fisherman as opposed to a gunfighter. This is a daunting task for anyone who has seen the atrocities of war.

When Jimmy started his fishing business, he learned first-hand the incredible effects of fishing on PTSD and wanted to share his skill and knowledge with veterans going through a similar situation. He wanted to fight against the stigma of PTSD and addiction, and thus, Knot Lucky was born.

Knot Lucky will provide the resources to help veterans feel purpose again which will lead to happy, fulfilling and successful lives.

“I FISH BECAUSE I HAVE TO; IT’S HOW I LIVE AND BREATHE,
I AM ALIVE BECAUSE I FISH.”

Our Process

Studies show that fishing can lower PTSD symptoms and increase the mood of those who suffer from the disorder. Knot Lucky will provide free fishing trips for veterans suffering from PTSD as well as guidance regarding counseling and finance. We want to be a resource for veterans to get out on the water and get the information they need to start to rebuild.
